The Academy will take two teams to Scandinavia (under-15/16s mixed & under-17/18s mixed) to compete against youngsters from across the world in the largest and most international youth tournament.
Almost a million players have participated in the competition since it was first held in 1975 and it has united different cultures, ethnicities, religions and nationalities through football.
The young Glovers are one of 31 English teams playing in Sweden. The group stages for them are as follows:
Savedalens IF |
St Paul Blackhawks 2 |
Vimmerby IF |
Yeovil Town |
Helsingborgs IF |
Hammarby IF FF |
Yeovil Town |
TikiTaka Academy |
The Academy will depart on Sunday ready for their first match on Monday, and Academy Manager Paul Wilson is looking forward to the trip.
“I’ve been for the last nine years,” he told YTFC.net.
“With the teams I’ve taken in the past it’s a fabulous experience and one the kids will never forget.
“You can’t buy the experience of playing in tournament football against different nationalities and formations, as well as the prospect of penalty shootouts.
“I’m thoroughly looking forward to taking our group of youngsters to compete.”
