The Town boss called for bouncebackability in midweek and he got it in abundance as goals from Matt Butcher, Alex Lacey and Bevis Mugabi helped the Green and Whites to a 3-1 victory in Lancashire.
Way quipped he was disappointed his side didn’t score more than three but praised their efforts to record their first three points since the end of January.
“It feels very good,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.
“From start to finish we played on the front foot and no disrespect to Morecambe but I thought it could’ve been 10! To come here and play in the manner we did was fantastic.
“I thought the effort from every single player was phenomenal. They worked hard all week and I said to them the secret of success is hard work. We stood strong, stuck together and the players deserve that.
“I was looking for us to channel our adrenaline in the right way, be calm and focused which is what you saw from every single individual.”
He continued: “There were some fantastic individual performances and that shows their loyalty to me as a manager – they showed a lot of loyalty out there.
“The players have given everything and that’s what I want to focus on – their commitment to the football club.
“Over a number of weeks we’ve felt we’ve deserved better and we’ve had a lot of draws so it’s nice to get that winning feeling.
“We’ll share that with the supporters as they’ve had a long trip and it’s nice to send them back with three points.”
