Town have already faced Pompey in Somerset this season, edging them out in a seven-goal thriller in the Checkatrade Trophy back in August.

Way is aware of the threats Paul Cook’s side possess and believes their start of the season expectation would have been to secure promotion.

“Portsmouth are a very good team and Paul Cook is a very good manager,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.

“I think they would feel they would have to get promoted this year.

“They’ve had two different style of play this season and went 4-4-2 against Newport and a little bit direct.

“We know the boy (Michael) Smith leaps very well and (Kal) Naismith can put a fantastic ball into the box because of the game we played previously so we’ll be ready for the that.”

He added: “The two or three games I’ve managed against Portsmouth have been good games.

“They’ve been very tight and it’ll be a game where I expect the supporters to come out in force.

“The way they supported the players on Monday was fantastic and o have 6,000 plus at the stadium was enjoyable for myself and the players.

“I’m sure we’ll blast the 6,000 mark again tomorrow night. Friday night games are always good, the players really enjoy them.”
