Yeovil Town have once again moved into the loan market by signing two players to boost manager Gary Johnson’s options.
Twenty two year old Latvian defender Vitalijs Maksimenko has joined on a one month loan deal from Brighton.
The former Skonta Riga player first crossed Gary Johnson’s path as a thirteen year old.
Gary, who was The former Latvian National manager before his return to English football with Yeovil, has been informed of his progress by another prominent Latvian player with links to Johnson in the form of Marian Pahars.
Vitalijs started his career at Daugava Riga before progressing to Skonto Riga in 2010 following a short loan move to CSKA Moscow.
His Skonto Riga career saw him make 76 appearances scoring two goals before he went on trial to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Despite interest from several Championship and premiership clubs he opted for Brighton and signed a two and half year contract with the Seagulls.
Johnson has also brought in 22 year old striker Jordan Cook for a one month loan from Charlton Athletic.
Cook started his career at Sunderland in their Youth set up before joining Darlington on loan in 2009.
The loan was cut short when Jordan sustained a cruciate ligament injury. Cook finally made his Sunderland debut against Manchester United on Boxing Day 2010.
Cook had a loan spell at Carlisle in 2012 but was released by Sunderland in May 2012. He joined Charlton at the start of the current season and joins Yeovil on Monday morning in readiness for the match against Swindon on Tuesday.
Everybody at Yeovil Town wish our two newcomers all the best for their spell at the club.
