The Glovers drew 1-1 with Port Vale at the weekend with the Valiants reduced to 10 men for the closing stages, something Town couldn’t take advantage of.
While not maximum points, the result continues Yeovil’s best home start to a campaign for 10 seasons with two wins and three draws from their first five fixtures.
However, Town now travel to Chesterfield on Tuesday night looking to arrest a run of form that has seen them lose all four of their matches on the road this season.
Targeting points from the trip to Derbyshire, Smith retains strong belief in the squad.
“We’ll be looking to get our first win on the road,” he told iFollow Glovers. “We’ve got a good enough group.
“I’ve been in teams that aren’t as good as this group and achieved great things so I know we can.
“We’ve got the capability here and the setup here to go on and do great things this season.”
The 24-year-old has earned promotion from Sky Bet League Two in each of the last two seasons and is confident in Town’s togetherness.
“We’re a tight-knit group, so we always stick together and you see it out there, any little battle the lads all back each other up so that’s a massive thing.
“That can get you places by itself let alone the work and the attitude we have.
“We know we’re a good group and have belief in everyone in the group.”
