A new and exciting coach education partnership between Bridgwater College and Yeovil Town Football Club Community Trust is being launched which will hopefully mimic the success of the existing Bristol City Football Club programme.

The partnership, in conjunction with Prodec Education Limited, gives students wishing to pursue a career in football coaching a qualification pathway. In year one students will study the Level 2 FA Qualifications and a Diploma in Coaching in Community Settings, progressing to a Level 3 Diploma in year two.

The Level 2 Teaching and Coaching Football in Community Settings will be available to both male and female students, who will also be given the opportunity to represent the Bridgwater College Football Academy, which will be based at the Community Trust Development Centre in Yeovil.

Roy O’Brien, Joint Manager at Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust said, “We are delighted to have formed a partnership with Bridgwater College and Prodec to deliver this excellent programme. It is a fantastic opportunity for 16-19* year olds to gain qualifications in football whilst also gaining valuable coaching experience with the Trust.”

Jason Gunningham, Head of Sport and Services at Bridgwater College said, "We are thrilled to be the lead education partner for Yeovil Town Community Trust. This new football Diploma course is aimed at developing students’ competencies and career skills so that they can work within the wide ranging and rewarding world of community and professional football coaching. The purpose of our partnership with the Community Trust is to provide real working opportunities for the young people of Yeovil and its surrounding areas with the Trust. It also gives those students industry recognised qualifications and quality teaching, which will not only develop the next generation of football coaches but also enable students to develop their playing careers further with the Club and College.”

Those interested in this new programme, are invited to attend one of two Open Evenings being held on Thursday 15 August and Thursday 22 August from 7-9pm in The Alex Stock Lounge at Huish Park Stadium.

* 19 year olds will be required to pay College fees.
