After a fortnight out of action, the Glovers returned with a bang as a trio of braces from Alex Fisher, Francois Zoko and Sam Surridge recorded a memorable afternoon in the West Midlands.
The first time ever that Town have scored six goals on the road in the EFL, Way’s history makers left the Town boss delighted.
Speaking to iFollow Glovers, he said: “The performance from start to finish was veryy good and would’ve raised a few eyebrows. They’ve not conceded goals like that, or certainly not that many, and it could’ve been eight at one stage.
“We’ve talked about fight first and play after and I thought we did that very well. There was a lot of blocking and tackling and we earned the right to be able to penetrate a good team like we did. Some of the finishing was excellent.”
Moving Yeovil to three games unbeaten and notching back-to-back wins, the Green & Whites now look set for their best finish in three seasons.
Having witnessed the club’s best ever EFL result on the road, Way was left to reflect on one of his most memorable moments as a manager to date.
“It’s got to be up there with being the best,” he said. “Coming to an arena like this, it wasn’t so long ago I was watching Craig Bellamy play in the Premier League for Coventry so to go up against a big club of that magnitude and be able to perform like we did today under pressure was immense.
“I’m proud of the squad, proud of the players and proud of the supporters for the way they supported us because it makes a difference.”
