Paul Dickov has admitted he has a selection dilemma for Latics’ npower League One match tomorrow at Yeovil Town. Latics’ manager must decide what to do in the wake of last Saturday’s disappointing home league defeat by Swindon Town Dickov made scathing criticisms of his players in the aftermath of the 2-0 loss at Boundary Park.
Paul Dickov could have a double boost for Oldham’s trip to Yeovil Town tomorrow. Defender Cliff Byrne and keeper Alex Cisak have both returned to training after suffering injuries during last weekend’s loss against Swindon Town. Byrne departed early with an back injury, while Cisak suffered a gash to the forehead and concussion. Of the two, Byrne would be considered more likely to feature after returning to full training with Cisak’s condition monitored on a daily basis.
Yeovil Town’s players need an arm around their shoulder and a big crowd to succeed, not an empty ground and stern words, according to their manager. The Glovers play their first of four festive games tomorrow when they welcome Oldham Athletic to Huish Park in npower League One.
A foot problem that has required specialist treatment and new boots has been denying Reuben Reid a place in Yeovil Town’s starting XI. After an impressive pre-season and a brace against former club West Bromwich Albion, the summer arrival has since found first-team opportunities hard to come by.
Yeovil Town will be without Fulham loanee Dan Burn after the defender picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 2-2 draw with Walsall. Richard Hinds, who has not started a game since 3 November, is likely to deputise for Burns at the back. Oldham goalkeeper Alex Cisak is a doubt after suffering a head injury in last weekend’s home defeat by Swindon. If Cisak is deemed unfit, Dean Bouzanis, who is available again after suspension, will replace him.
Yeovil Town have launched plans for free transport to Leyton Orient next month, aimed at getting a 500-strong green army to back their team in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. The Glovers visit their npower League One rivals on Tuesday, January 8 in the area semi-final and manager Gary Johnson wants a bumper away following to help propel his team a step closer to Wembley.
Coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Walsall on Saturday was terrific even though it was not the best of performances. You need to pick up points whenever you can and to score that late equaliser was brilliant. Manager Gary Johnson made some second half substitutions that had a big impact on the game’s result and at the end of the day if the fixture is not going your way you have to make changes. Gary rolled the dice and the substitutes made a difference. The intention has always been this season to have players in the squad that are capable of being close to the starting XI at any point.
Glovers’ supporters are being invited to decorate a Christmas tree at Huish Park during the festive period. Fans can place cards, photos and scarves around the Supporters’ Christmas Wish Tree situated outside the ticket office.
Korey Smith will hold talks with Norwich City about his future this week following the end of his Yeovil Town loan. The industrious midfielder has made 18 appearances in three months with the Glovers, having an initial month’s stay extended in October.
