Yeovil Town’s Buildabase FA Trophy campaign kicks-off on Saturday (3pm) as Welling visit Huish Park.
In what will be Darren Sarll’s first game as a manager in this competition, the Gaffer is hoping for some great success in it this season.
Speaking to YTTV ahead of the tie, Sarll said;
“It’s my first participation in this competition since I played which was years ago.
“However, I’m reminded constantly by a certain Terry Skiverton about the past experiences this club has in the competition.
“Any competition that finishes with a date at Wembley is something to be motivated by.
“We just want to win football matches. Wembley is a long way away and the most important front is the league because it has such a large part to play in the short-term future of the football club.
“We’re chasing that promotion, so I need to be mindful of that, but we need to put out a team that is not only capable of winning but also ready for Fylde next weekend.”
Traditionally cup competitions offer managers an opportunity to test out other members of the playing squad.
However, Sarll insists he will only give opportunity to players that deserve it.
“We’re not necessarily going to make a lot of changes. If its warranted, especially when I look at players like Worthington, he only missed out because of an illness.
“Tilley too, he has been very unfortunate of late, so it offers a good chance to get them back out.
“They are both absolutely brilliant players for us, and they have an absolutely massive part to play in the second half of this season.”
