Yeovil Town Chairman Scott Priestnall has provided an update for supporter’s following the postponement of all fixtures due to the spread of COVID-19.

Commenting via a video message on twitter, the Chairman said;

“I want to give all the supporters and community and update on the situation at the football club. Firstly, let me give my best wishes to you and your families in what are very challenging times. I hope your family and friends remain healthy and safe.

“Like most clubs and businesses, we are in a very precarious position with very little income coming into the football club, with creditors building up. I ensured that our staff and players were paid their full salaries last week as we continue to build a plan through this.

“As part of that plan, I have asked our players and staff to take a 50% deferral in wages and I have been truly humbled by their response. You all know the special group of people we have around this place and it has really shown in extraordinary times.

“We of course are working hard to ensure the clubs survival, we have had positive conversations with our suppliers, we thank them for their support and patience.

“We have received business rates and relief; we are also currently looking into the Government’s job retentions scheme for our staff and players.

“Last week, all clubs submitted their financial impact report that this situation has had. We now await to hear back from that with regards to the FA and Government action along with potentially Premier League action.

“You will have seen in the press recently, I have pleaded out to the Premier League to help the Non-League game through this, as it will no doubt have some catastrophic effects right through the pyramid.

“It’s a shame that our community work for this season has been cut short, I am proud of the work we were doing, particularly in primary schools and their families to create the next generation of Yeovil Town supporters and potentially players. We did however get the T-Shirts out which was great, and we look to continue that campaign when we are back up and running.

“Now I throw this over to you guys, if you have any unanswered questions about our status or any income ideas during this difficult time, then please get in touch with us on social media or via email.”
