The striker sat out last weekend’s opening day trip to Barnet but returned to the side to secure the first three points of the season for Darren Sarll’s side.
Speaking to YTTV, he said: “For anyone, to play their first game of the season and score within two minutes especially as a striker is a dream come true for any start of any season.
“For a striker to score in any minute of any game, your confidence just goes through the roof. You want to get on the ball and you want more shots.
“If I’m not playing or not involved that’s for a reason, all I can do is get my head down and work for that opportunity, and when it does come I need to take it like I did tonight.”
The win saw the green and whites start life in the Vanarama National League at home in positive fashion.
Despite the visitors throwing all they had at Sarll’s side in the second half, Duffus and his team-mates held firm to secure all three points and will now target the same result on Saturday as Stockport County visit.
“It was tough, I’m a big lad myself but they were huge, but our fitness showed in the end. We have had a tough pre-season and that is what ultimately got us through the game.
“We dug deep as a team, which is the most pleasing thing. Hopefully, we can get some momentum now and take that into Saturday.
“The away support last weekend (at Barnet) was phenomenal. It’s nice to give them something to cheer about and get behind tonight and hopefully now, we’ll get a bit of momentum going for the fans as well.”
