Yeovil Town Football Club have signed Korey Smith from Norwich City on a 93 days emergency loan.
Smith has made an impact at both right back and midfield at Norwich and will be linking up with Gary Johnson and the team today for the match at MK Dons.Smith first appeared on the bench for Norwich in January 2008 as an unused substitute in an FA Cup match against Charlton Athletic.
He made his professional debut for Norwich in a 0–1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at Carrow Road on 4 April 2009, as an 82nd minute substitute for David Carney.Smith figured regularly in the Norwich team during the 2009–10 season as Norwich City won promotion from League One to the Championship as champions. In July 2010, Smith was handed the number 18 shirt and continued to play regularly as Norwich won promotion to the Premier League. In January 2012, Smith joined Barnsley on loan where he made 12 appearances.
He made an instant impact at Oakwell, assisting two goals on debut against Derby County in a 3–2 victory for the Reds on his 21st birthday.Speaking exclusively to www.ytfc.net manager Gary Johnson said of his new signing: “ With Gavin Williams still out and a couple of other squad members with slight question marks now seemed a sensible time to bring in an extra body to enhance our squad.“Korey is still only a young man but he has had a lot of experience in both League One and the Championship with Norwich being involved in both of their promotion years.
“It’s a real coup to bring in such a player to our club and I hope Korey will have both a happy and successful time at Huish Park.”
