Yeovil Town are delighted to announce the signing of Alex Whittle following his departure from York City.
The full-back arrives with a wealth of experience, ready for the 2023/24 campaign.
Beginning his career in the youth ranks at Liverpool, he departed Anfield in 2011, eventually joining Dunfermline Athletic. He enjoyed a three year stint north of the border before returning to England to ply his trade in non-league.
AFC Fylde was his first venture back in English football, with spells in the National League following with York City & Southport.
Already known to Mark Cooper, he made his EFL debut for Forest Green Rovers during the 17/18 season, before venturing back to Southport on loan.
His most successful spell in the National League came with Chesterfield, as the full-back was part of the Spireites side which finished in the play-offs during the 20/21 and 21/22 seasons. Following his departure from Chesterfield, he returned to York where he made 33 appearances last season.
Commenting after his signing was confirmed, Whittle said; “I’m happy to be here, I know the gaffer (Mark Cooper), I played under him before at Forest Green Rovers and played against him a couple times last season.
“I had a few clubs interested, the gaffer likes to play a good style of football and he’s signed some good players, so I’m happy to be here.”
