If ever there’s a time to support your local Women’s Super League team, it is this Sunday.
Yeovil Town Ladies face Sunderland AFC Ladies on Sunday 20th March, in the SSE FA Women’s Cup last 16, with the game being staged at Huish Park in Yeovil.
For those that have not seen Yeovil Town Ladies in action, here are some reasons why you should come along.
1 – THE GAME:
Yeovil Town Ladies are just 3 games away from appearing in the final at Wembley. A win against Sunderland AFC Ladies, will put the green and whites in the quarter finals, which would be a club record achievement. Beating Sunderland will be a tough task, but one which Yeovil Town Ladies will give everything for.
2 – BE A PART OF THE HISTORY:
In 1949 the mens team at Yeovil Town overturned the ‘Bank of England’ club Sunderland, in a game known as being one of the biggest giant killings of all time.
To celebrate the history of this game, there is an 8 page pullout inside the matchday programme, which is a copy of the 1949 programme from that giant killing game. Will Yeovil Town Ladies emulate that win against higher placed opposition and create history themselves?
3 – NEW AWAY KIT LAUNCH:
To give fans even more excitement on the day, the Yeovil squad will be wearing their newly created away kit for the first time. The exact design of this new kit has not yet been released, but you can see it for the first time at 2.00pm on Sunday.
4 – SEE THE 2016 SQUAD IN ACTION:
With some exciting new signings, this will be your first chance to see Jamie Sherwood’s new squad in home action. If you can’t get to the game this Sunday, you’ll have to wait until 24th April for your next opportunity, unless of course Yeovil get drawn at home in the quarter finals on 3rd April. 5 – ENJOY YOUR FIRST TASTE OF THE 2016 SEASON AT HUISH PARK:
With the Ladies now playing games at the home of football in Somerset, you can enjoy a pre-match carvery from 12.00pm, or enjoy a drink in the bar area ahead of the game. Yeovil did not concede a single goal at Huish Park during the two games in the 2015 season, with both games providing heaps of excitement along the way.
6 – BE A PART OF A RECORD BREAKING TEAM:
Will the Yeovil Town Ladies highest attendance of 722 be smashed on Sunday? In 1949, the attendance was 17,123, which almost certainly would have helped the team to victory on that day. With Season Ticket sales for the 2016 season already doubled and nearly trebled, the new attendance record looks to be in it’s sights and with adult entry prices at £5.00 and concessions at £2.50, there’s some great value top class elite football available.
7 – ACHIEVE BY UNITY:
As manager Jamie Sherwood and Captain Ellie Curson will know, the only way to achieve success is to go through it together. The team and staff will give everything to get the win required, but this can only be done with the vocal support and encouragement of the fans. Yeovil Town Football Club has it’s ‘mojo’ back and it’s a great place to be. The whole club is having some great success at present and long may that continue, but you are needed on this journey.
