The Glovers recovered from Kayden Jackson’s early opener for the visitors with a Francois Zoko strike sandwiched between an Olomola double in an entertaining first-half at Huish Park.
Jackson’s second of the match after the restart made it a nervy end to the game, but Town saw out the victory to get off the mark in League Two.
Having bagged a brace on his home debut, Olomola feels the Glovers have now set the bar.
Speaking to iFollow Glovers, the Southampton-loanee said: “We’ve set the standard for ourselves now, so we have to kick on.
“We need to follow this through for the whole of the season and show the same determination and fight that we showed on Saturday.”
Olomola was delighted to net his first professional goals in his maiden competitive outing in front of the home faithful.
“I’ve come here to score goals and win games for the team,” he said. “Hopefully, I can do that more often.
“(Celebrating with the team), those are the moments you live for, especially as a striker. You’re on the pitch to score goals and there’s no feeling like it.
“The fans made a great atmosphere, the roar and the cheer got behind us when we really needed it in the second half and helped us see it through to the end.”
The Glovers are next in action with a trip to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday – the first ever EFL meeting between the two sides.
