Town concluded their pre-season preparations with a 9-0 win against Dorchester Town.

Gary Johnson named former Bristol City midfielder Marvin Elliott in the starting XI, he started in a midfield five of Nathan Smith, Nathan Ralph, James Berrett and Nana Twumasi.

It was Twumasi who opened the scoring for Town on 18 minutes. A quick kick from the hands of Weale was well met by Berrett deep inside the Dorchester half, but his pass was half cleared to the feet of Nana. The defender looked up and smashed the ball past Walker-Harris from 20 yards, leaving the keeper with no chance.

With just under ten minutes of the first half remaining Town doubled their lead. A free kick on the left was swung in by the impressive Berrett onto the head of Lanzoni, whose flick header beat the diving Walker-Harris.

Five minutes later and Town made it 3-0 after Sam Hoskins was upended in the area. Up stepped James Hayter to send Walker–Harris the wrong way from 12 yards.

Hayter got his second of the game on 51 minutes when he timed his run perfectly to beat the Dorchester offside trap to latch onto a smart through ball from Hoskins. The striker made no mistake in slotting past the on rushing keeper from 18-yards.

Moments later Town made it 5-0 with a well-worked goal. A strong tackle by Berrett in the centre of midfield saw the former Carlisle man release Hayter on the right, who in turn crossed to the unmarked Hoskins at the back post. The striker controlled well at the back post and calmly drilled the ball past Walker-Harris from close range.

Hayter completed his hat-trick just before the hour mark when he latched onto a back pass to run free and easily beat the stranded keeper.

Hoskins got his second of the game after 63 minutes when he bundled the ball home at the back post following a superb run and shot by Nathan Ralph on the left.

Hoskins made it 8-0 with just under ten minutes remaining when he and Hayter linked up beautifully on the edge of the Dorchester area. The former Southampton man ran onto a neat pass to slot home under the advancing Walker-Harris.

Substitute Sam Foley made it 9-0 when he slid in at the back post to slot into an empty net after a good run and cross on the left wing by Nathan Smith.
