Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action this coming Saturday as they host Hartlepool United at Huish Park with a 3pm kick off.
The Glovers are looking to build upon their win last weekend, beating Crawley Town away to secure just their second league win of the campaign.
Harry Cornick scored a wonder goal (no, it really was, watch it on YouTube by clicking HERE) to secure the three points and there was a record breaking appearance for 17 year old Ollie Bassett who became Yeovil’s youngest ever Football League player.
As for Saturday’s visitors, Hartlepool hosted Cambridge last week and played out a 0-0 draw. It was a game where Pools were probably on top for the most of it, but former Glovers ‘keeper Chris Dunn was in inspired form for the U’s.
Prior to that, Hartlepool were putting the miles in once more as they travelled to Exeter where they lost 1-0 thanks to a single Christian Ribeiro goal deep in the second half stoppage time.
The Yeovil injury problems that have plagued the start of the campaign at Huish Park shows no immediate signs of easing, some of the players that have been missing are edging closer to fitness and some may be fit enough to involved in the team’s warm up or even make up numbers on the substitutes bench, but the upcoming fixtures with Accrington and Portsmouth are more likely to see the return of players.
Another note on returning players is that striker Shaun Jeffers serves the last of his three match ban this Saturday meaning he will be available on Tuesday night.
At the time of writing, there is no word on whether or not the two youngsters Ollie Bassett or Max Melanson will be involved in the match day squad once more.
As for Hartlepool, they have this week extended the loan deal of Scunthorpe defender Andrew Boyce for another month.
Pools will be bringing with them a former Glover in the form of Michael Woods. Woods joined Yeovil on a short term deal in 2012 and played a handful of times before injury curtailed his stay.
In Yeovil’s camp there is just the one former Hartlepool player however midfielder Jack Compton is likely to be missing through injury.
Hartlepool are travelling the length and breadth of the country at the moment and a trip down to Somerset will be another long journey for the Victoria Park outfit.
Paul Sturrock and the side near your support to help build on last week’s victory, come along to Huish Park this Saturday and get behind the team. See below for all the ticket details.
Last time we met
The sides last met during the Glovers’ 2012/13 promotion season in League One.
Most recently, in early March of 2013, the two sides played out a battling 0-0 draw, a Paddy Madden shot hitting the crossbar might well have been the only real talking point of a fairly bland game.
Earlier in the same campaign, a second scrappy game saw Yeovil come out on top thanks to a single Joe Edwards goal.
Edwards playing in a much more advanced midfield role was on target in the 7th minute.
In fact, three out of the last four meetings have all been settled by a single goal, only one of those has gone the way of Saturday’s visitors.
In 2011, Bondz N’Gala scored a winning goal to send 55 travelling fans into raptures.
