Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League One action this coming Tuesday night as the Glovers host Crewe Alexandra, with a 7:45pm kick off.

Yeovil haven’t played at Huish Park in a league match since the draw with Barnsley over two weeks ago.

Since then, an impressive win against Bradford and a battling defeat at Coventry have seen mixed fortunes come from their two most recent fixtures.

The defeat to Coventry ended an unbeaten run that spanned four games, something the Glovers will look to get back starting this Tuesday.

By contrast, Alex sit 24th, rock bottom of the league with a grand total of three points on board.

Those three points were, however, came on Saturday in a 2-1 win over Port Vale. Prior to that, it had been a streak of defeats with the goal difference column taking a battering, too.

Crewe have already lost to Rochdale, Swindon and Gillingham this season in games where the Alex failed to get on the score sheet.

However, the 2013 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy winners will be hoping to put their poor form behind them and build on their first points of the season.

They’ll have on loan midfielder Jamie Ness to call upon too, the Stoke loanee has been out of action with a hamstring injury but is now back and available for selection.

Elsewhere, Harry Davis and Ryan Colclough are longer term absentees and likely to be missing for some time.

New loan signing Jake Kean will be available for selection after joining from Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

The injury list at Yeovil already had three names on it with James Berrett, Simon Gillett and Liam Davis all on the road to recovery.

Following Saturday’s game at Coventry, there is also the news that both James Hayter and Joe Edwards were subbed off as precautions following injury concerns.

With Joel Grant returning to action, replacements shouldn’t be hard to come by for the starting eleven, but with only five substitutes named on the bench for the last two fixtures the squad is still stretched to the limit.

One man who will probably have more than his fair share of family and friends in the away end is Ajay Leitch Smith.

The new Glovers front man spent his entire career at the Railwaymen before making the switch to Somerset in the summer.

Crewe and Yeovil have crossed paths a number of times in the football league and during the Yeovil promotion season Yeovil won both fixtures 1-0.

A Byron Webster goal secured the points away from home and Joe Edwards scoring in the first minute was all it took at Huish Park.

Overall, Yeovil have won five of the eight meetings with the other three going Crewe’s way. All that means the two have never played out a draw.

These two sides have seen nearly 40 goals in their league matches so far this campaign so expect some fireworks this coming Tuesday night.
