Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action this coming Saturday when Cambridge United come to Huish Park for a 3pm kick off.
Paul Sturrock’s men are hoping to banish the result from Tuesday night against Mansfield where, despite a good rear guard action, they conceded an agonising 99th minute winner.
Reggie Lambe’s header deep into stoppage time meant that the Stags went home with all three points in a game where a point had looked a certainty for the hosts.
Another home game has rolled around quickly and will represent the perfect opportunity for the team to get back to winning ways.
Cambridge United are the visiting side and they have been a little bit hit and miss themselves.
The U’s are lying in 16th place, on 17 points, eight ahead of their Somerset-based opponents on Saturday.
However, Cambridge’s away form isn’t quite up to the standard of their home form and they have won just once on the road, they have however drawn four.
Despite having one of the most feared attacks in the division with the likes of Barry Corr and Robbie Simpson, they have been conceding goals at the other which has led to their inconsistencies.
In an effort to stop the leaking at the other end, Richard Money has added Alie Sesay from Leicester City on loan.
Their inability to call on former-Yeovil goalkeeper Chris Dunn due to a groin injury hasn’t helped, they have been calling on their second choice stopper Sam Beasant to fill the number 1 spot.
Cambridge have already been in the South-West this week, they played away at Exeter City on Tuesday and the game ended in a similar way to the Yeovil game, a single, late Tom Nichols goal was all that separated the sides.
Both team’s managers have said this week they would like to add another player to the squad and, so long as they’re registered by lunchtime today any new addition could be involved in the game tomorrow.
Yeovil’s form has not been what they would have liked over the first 14 games of this season, but on-the-pitch inconsistency can be helped by off-the-pitch stability, that starts with you, the Glovers faithful in the stands.
These two sides played out fantastic FA Cup ties against Manchester United last season and it could take another performance of that standard to get the season going again.
All the ticket information is below, come along to Huish Park this Saturday and support the team.
Last time we met
Like Mansfield Town on Tuesday, these two sides haven’t crossed since 2005 when goals from Terry Skiverton and Phil Jevons scored a goal each in a 2-1 win.
Interestingly, Yeovil and Cambridge have met four times in the Football League and the Glovers have come out on top in each one.
The reverse fixture of the 04/05 season saw the Glovers travel to Cambridge and not only come back with three points but with five goals in the bag too.
Jevo, again was on target, but this time, Darren Way, Lee Johnson and Andrejs Stolcers got in on the act too.
Before that, we find not one, but two 4-1 wins from the 2003/04 season,; eight goals, seven different scorers including Colin Miles, Adam Stansfield and Gavin Williams.
All of that means that in four meetings there have been a whopping 21 goals!
