Yeovil Town return to Huish Park to face Chesterfield in National League action tomorrow afternoon (3pm).

After a draw on the road against Eastleigh in midweek, Hargreaves will be hoping his side can return to winning ways at Huish Park.

Our opponents have enjoyed a superb start to the season, remaining unbeaten and sitting top of the table.

Chris Hargreaves’ thoughts

Commenting in his press conference, Hargreaves wants his side to play on the ‘front foot’ against Chesterfield.

Its a fantastic game for us, all the lads are looking forward to it. We have to be on the front foot.

Team news

Callum Rowe faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after picking up an injury.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Chris Hargreaves confirmed that the former Aston Villa man faces an extended spell on the treatment table.

“Callum Rowe unfortunately has an injury that will keep him out for potentially six weeks, which is a big blow.”

Sam Perry is another injury worry, having suffered a concussion. This meant he missed out on Tuesday evening against Eastleigh.

Max Evans is Town’s other long-term injury.

What’s on at Huish Park?

As ever, the Alec Stock Lounge will be showing the early Premier League fixture (Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Manchester City) prior to kick off. Home fans are welcome to join us in the bar from 12:15pm.

James Dowding is this week’s community hero. He was born in North Yorkshire before moving to Somerset where he has become a huge Yeovil Town fan.

Throughout his life, James has suffered health issues that have affected him and made him subject and target of bullying during his school and college years in Yorkshire.

In 2020, James and his family moved back to their roots here in Somerset. At this time James had no confidence as a result of the impact of the bullying, he attended ARK in Merriott where he was mentored and assisted in developing his confidence and communication skills to the point he was supported in seeking employment on a local farm.

The support from ARK and his employees on the farm has really helped James in growing in confidence and enjoying each day. Once the football restarted after covid James bought a season ticket with his dad who supported Yeovil Town as a young man and would attend the games with James’ Grandad.

We hope you have a great day, James!

A foot in the opposition camp

The league leaders have enjoyed a superb start to the season, and much of that is down to former Glover Joe Quigley. After a difficult start to life in Derbyshire, the forward has become a fan favourite at the Technique Stadium.

One former Glover departed Chesterfield this week, albeit on a temporary basis. Tom Whelan has linked up with his former Weymouth boss Mark Molesley at Aldershot on a short-term loan.

The visitors also boast highly rated forward Kabongo Tshimanga, however he may not be involved on Saturday having reportedly been given time off after his failed deadline day move to a Championship side.

Have we met before?

Our first ever meeting with Chesterfield came in an FA Cup third round clash in 1950, where Yeovil were defeated 3-1 at Chesterfield’s old ground, Saltergate.

Prior to 2019, the two clubs had only ever met in league action within the EFL. The Glovers have won just once against Chesterfield in the National League, in December 2019 at the Technique Stadium 2-1 thanks to goals from Myles Hippolyte and Rhys Murphy.

Last season, Chesterfield completed the double over Town, winning 1-0 at the Technique Stadium and 2-0 at Huish Park.

Tickets

Tickets for the game can be purchased from the online ticket office until midday on match day for physical tickets, but until kick-off for e-tickets/print at home.

Following this, they can be purchased in person from the ticket office, however this is subject to a small price increased. We strongly recommend getting to Huish Park early to avoid queues.
