Yeovil Town face a number of familiar foes on Tuesday evening (7:45pm) as the Glovers travel to Woking.

After a last-gasp draw on Saturday against Maidstone, Mark Cooper’s Yeovil side are on their travels once again, hoping to go one better in Surrey.

Woking, who are now managed by former Glover Darren Sarll, boast both Dan Moss & Luke Wilkinson within their ranks, and have enjoyed a strong start to the season, currently sitting in the play-off places.

Mark Cooper’s thoughts

The new boss faced the press for the first time on Monday morning, commenting on the game, he said;

“I want us to be really front foot, intense and play in the opposition’s half. It will be a tough game, they are flying, Darren’s done a really good job there, like he did here, and he’ll be desperate to beat Yeovil.”

Team news

Yeovil will be boosted by the return of Jamie Reckord who was suspended for Saturday’s trip to Maidstone. This could see Ben Richards-Everton return to his role as a central defender having played left-back in Reckord’s absence.

Sam Pearson remains at Bristol City to recover from fatigue, however Cooper will have Charlie Wakefield to call on after he made his return to the squad on Saturday.

Have we met before?

Last season, the Glovers won all three fixtures against the Cardinals.

The first came in National League action as goals from Charlie Wakefield and Tom Knowles secured victory. In December, the Glovers advanced in the FA Trophy, with Knowles amongst the goals once again alongside a double from Adi Yussuf. Wakefield was then the talisman as his goal secured three points for the Glovers in our last trip to Woking.

In truth, the Glovers have a strong record against the Cards since dropping back into the National League, losing just once back in January 2020.

A foot in the opposition camp

Since turning full-time at the start of last season, there’s been a lot of change at the Kingfield Stadium. Long-serving manager Alan Dowson departed and in came Sarll.

Along with Sarll came former Glovers Wilkinson and Moss, who have both enjoyed strong starts to the season. However, it seems the Cards will be without the former Yeovil skipper, who was forced off with a knock last weekend and looks unlikely to return in time for the fixture.
