Yeovil Town’s pre-season campaign comes to a close with a trip to the seaside to face Weston-super-Mare on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
After a draw with Dorchester Town on Tuesday, manager Chris Hargreaves will be hoping his side can sign off the friendly campaign with a victory on the road.
With two new signings entering the squad since Tuesday’s game, Saturday’s final friendly sets up an exciting end to our pre-season schedule.
Chris Hargreaves’ thoughts
Reflecting on Yeovil Town’s draw with Dorchester Town, Hargreaves said his sides biggest takeaway from the evening was building fitness. “It’s a fitness thing to me. We’re looking towards Saturday as them (fighting to) keeping their shirt for the first game game of the season.
“I did make a fair few changes (against Dorchester) and it doesn’t help the balance of the side. So it is still about fitness.”
Sam Pearson and Ben Richards-Everton could both make their Yeovil Town debut against the Seagulls on Saturday afternoon.
Matt Worthington returns from his one match suspension for his red card against Plymouth Argyle.
Chiori Johnson and Tom Knowles were both rested for minor knocks, so could both be involved in North Somerset.
A foot in the opposition camp
Following last season’s play-off defeat, the Seagulls are hungry for success this season.
After relegation from the National League South in 2019, Weston have remained in the Southern Premier Division ever since.
Their recruitment this summer has turned a lot of heads, with former Glover, Reuben Reid now lining up in North Somerset.
Have we met before?
Trips to Weston have become a regular feature of Town’s pre-season campaign in recent seasons.
Last season, the Glovers were held to a 1-1 draw, with Tom Knowles scoring from distance in the second half.
