Yeovil Town will look to bounce back from FA Cup disappointment as attention turns to league action with a trip to Oldham Athletic on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Despite defeat in the Cup, the Glovers have lost just once in their last six league games and beat Solihull Moors last time out.

Oldham come into the game having gone the distance with Chester in the FA Cup on Tuesday night, advancing in a penalty shootout.

Chris Hargreaves’ thoughts

The boss spoke to the press on Thursday afternoon about moving on from the disappointing defeat to Taunton Town.

“My disappointment the other night (against Taunton), was that there was enough experience in that team to turn the performance.

“We have to put that to bed and move on, there will be reinforcements coming in, but at the moment it hasn’t been possible.”

Team news

Speaking to the press, Hargreaves confirmed he was awaiting clearance on new signings, having been waiting for ’10 days’. Keep an eye on our channels for any announcements should clearance be received.

Matt Worthington is out of the game due to suspension, but Gime Touré could start his first league game since being sent off against Southend United.

A foot in the opposition camp

It’s been a busy few months at Boundary Park with a new manager and owner installed. Local Taxi firm owner Frank Rothwell agreed a deal to buy the Club in July which was concluded in August.

Following the departure of John Sheridan as manager, he installed former Everton head of academy David Unsworth as the man at the helm. Unsworth is yet to win a National League game as Oldham boss but has secured passage to the FA Cup first round with a shootout victory against Chester in midweek.

Have we met before?

Saturday’s game will be the 21st meeting between the two sides, and the first since 2019. Our last trip to Boundary Park saw a Paul Scholes managed Oldham side defeat the Glovers.

In total, the Glovers have eight wins against Saturday’s opposition, the last win came in December 2014, as goals from Stephen Arthurworrey, Simon Gillett, Sam Hoskins and Kieffer Moore secured an emphatic victory in League One.
