Yeovil Town are on the road this Saturday (3pm) to face Dagenham & Redbridge in National League action.
After two weeks since their last game against Bromley, it’s another trip to the Capital for the Yeovil squad, who have been chomping at the bit to get back to playing football matches.
The hosts have played more recently, also against Yeovil’s last opponents Bromley where they drew 1-1 at Hayes Lane.
Mark Cooper’s thoughts
Commenting on Saturday’s opposition, Mark Cooper said; “Every game is a different challenge. Every team has different threats. Dagenham have got some really good individuals.
“The forward players are all lively and can score goals, we have to be aware of that. They’ve had a solid unit as of late.”
Team news
Owen Bevan has been fit to make a return since the originally scheduled Barnet game, but hasn’t had the opportunity to step out on the pitch with a number of games postponed.
On the injury front amongst the rest of the team, Cooper commented in his press conference that he was working with an almost fully fit squad.
“We won’t be far away from that (full strength),” said the boss. “I think nearly everybody is ready to go so that always helps. It has enabled us to do some proper preparation work to get ready for the game.”
A foot in the opposition camp
Dagenham are often a much fancied team in the National League, boasting a side with vast experience ar the level.
Most notably, the Daggers boast forward Paul McCallum. He has a history of scoring against the Glovers, most notably for Barnet in the 19/20 play-off eliminator, but last season actually scored an own goal against Yeovil.
In the dugout for the hosts is Daryl McMahon. The former Ebbsfleet manager has been at the helm since 2020 and boasts a strong 45% win rate.
Have we met before?
This will be the second meeting between the two sides this season, with Yeovil having got the better of the Daggers at Huish Park back in August. This 1-0 victory was the Glovers’ first victory of the season thanks to a goal from Jamie Reckord.
Our last trip to Dagenham was also a successful one. Tom Knowles’ long-throw caused havoc in the Dagenham box, forcing McCallum’s own goal to give Yeovil a 1-0 victory in November 2021.
The last time we suffered defeat in Dagenham came in August 2019, as former Joe Quigley struck a last minute winner for the hosts.
