Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action this coming Saturday when the Glovers travel to Crawley Town for a 3pm kick off.

With both sides dropping out of League One last season they are both struggling to adapt to life in League Two and both find themselves nearer the bottom of the league than the top.

Yeovil, as we know, have has some scratchy form of late, decent results against Luton and Barnet have been somewhat overshadowed by an incredible injury list which has led to inconsistent performances and negative results.

However, last week’s 1-1 draw with AFC Wimbledon was a shining light for the team who battled through losing two more players through injury and playing with at least two more team members with fitness issues to secure a valuable point.

Jakub Sokolik played through a broken wrist – no, really – to help his team while Jordan Gibbons made a cameo appearance despite being injured himself.

Yeovil welcomed back Josh Wakefield from injury however, as well as giving a debut to loanee Jake Howells.

Howells, a midfielder borrowed from Luton, played very well despite knowing his new team mates for less than 24 hours.

A Ryan Bird goal got the game off to a flying start but the Dons managed to secure an equaliser in the final 10 minutes.

Alex Lacey and Omar Sowunmi provide the negative news from the game however with Lacey going off in the warm up with an injury that flared up from a few games ago while Omar was on the receiving end of a fairly industrial tackle that will rule him out for three or four weeks.

To finish off the weekly injury news bulletin we can bring you the news that whilst we may not see many returning faces for the Crawley game, the games against Hartlepool and Accrington could see the return of a few more members of the squad.

Crawley Town come into this Saturday’s game in 19th place just a couple of points better off than Yeovil.

They are coming off the back of a thrashing at the hands of Mansfield Town last week.

Crawley were reduced to 10 men in the second half but most of the damage had already been done.

Gwion Edwards will miss Saturday’s game as a result of the red card with Manager Mark Yates saying after the game he was disappointed with a performance as poor as he’d ever seen during his time in charge.

The injury news from Crawley surrounds a former Glovers player; Matt Harrold was forced off the first half of the game on Saturday and is expected to miss out this week with a hamstring problem.

However, they do have another former Yeovil player in their ranks; Lewis Young was part of the promotion squad in 2013 and is now a key member of the Red Devils team.

Neither team could name a full bench last weekend, so two sides stretched to capacity will try and kick start their season with a vital three points.

A win for either team will put them within touching distance of the top half and be able to put the early season wobbles behind them.

Last time we met

Yeovil Town and Crawley met three times in total last season, twice in an ultimately disappointing season for both sides and once again in the FA Cup.

The most recent meeting, in February, saw Yeovil come through as 2-1 winners.

Gozie Ugwu and AJ Leitch Smith scored two second half goals to secure a comeback win from behind.

Izale McCleod had given the Red Devils the lead in the first half, but Yeovil still managed to gain all three points in Terry Skiverton’s first game in charge of his second stint at the helm.

Yeovil also beat Crawley 1-0 in the FA Cup last season; a single Jordy Hiwula goal put the club on the road to facing Manchester United.
