29th April 2023

The curtain will close on Yeovil Town’s National League season on Saturday evening (5:30pm) with a trip to Boreham Wood.

With the Glovers’ fate sealed, the travelling Town side will be playing for pride in Hertfordshire.

In the hosts’ camp, they’re playing for a play-off spot, and require just a point to secure that.

Mark Cooper’s thoughts

The boss spoke to the press ahead of the trip to Boreham Wood.

“Boreham Wood need to get a result to get a play-off spot, it’s been a good season for them.

“They’ve got a really good set-up, it’s going to be a tough game, we know that.”

Team news

Yeovil Town youngsters Ollie Haste and Benjani Jr have been recalled from their loan spells to be involved against Boreham Wood this weekend.

On the injury front, Matt Worthington looks set to miss out, whilst Morgan Williams, Will Buse, Jordan Stevens and Lawson D’Ath all have long-term injuries.

A foot in the opposition camp

It’s been another good season for Luke Garrard’s Boreham Wood side, who need just a point to secure a play-off spot.

Should the Glovers cause an upset, all eyes in Meadow Park will be looking at Southend United’s result, who could catch them if they pick up three points.

The star man for the Wood is goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore, who has always performed well against Town in previous meetings.

Have we met before?

Since dropping into the National League, Yeovil are yet to lose a home game against the Wood, but have struggled on the road.

During 19/20, the Glovers fell to a defeat in our first trip to Meadow Park as Kabongo Tshimanga netted a second half winner for the Wood.

The most memorable encounter with Boreham Wood came in 20/21, being the first game played since the passing of Lee Collins. Yeovil were the 1-0 victors as Tom Knowles’ first half goal separated the two sides.

Earlier this season, Town were to a 1-1 draw, with Gime Toure scoring for the Glovers.
