After 174 days, we are able to see you again, as fans are welcomed back for our first pre-season friendly. Yeovil Town travel to Knights Lane to face Stratford, kicking off our pre-season campaign.
After a successful first week of pre-season training, alongside the additions of Jimmy Smith, Jack Clarke and Josh Staunton, the lads are back in action and raring to go.
Darren Sarll’s pre-match thoughts
The gaffer has made no secret of the hard miles his players have had to run this week as they return to training: “I’ve loved the first week back. I’ve got my measuring stick out and watched the players tremble as I mark out the distance they have to run.”
The rewards of a tough week of running are already shining through, with Sarll insisting: ‘Fitness isn’t a problem. A few of our players are more than ready to play a full 90 minutes.”
Darren Sarll’s full pre-match press conference can be viewed on the Yeovil Town F.C. YouTube channel.
Squad news
YTFC will be without versatile midfielders Charlie Lee & Albi Skendi, who both are suffering from slight muscle injuries.”
On the injuires, the gaffer said: “Albi is struggling with his calf, and Charlie has a slight problem with his hip. We’re not ready to risk it yet, so those two will be missing out this weekend.”
Skendi, a former Stratford Town player, will no doubt be disappointed that he is unable to make a comeback appearance at Knights Lane.
Yeovil Town fans will be pleased to see the potential return of Lawson D’Ath who just missed out on our play-off clash with Barnet.
Last time we met
We last met Stratford Town last Summer when they visited Huish Park for Darren Sarll’s first friendly at the helm. Thanks to a double from Rhys Murphy, Town ran out the 2-0 victors.
