Yeovil Town are delighted to confirm that the new Academy has been recommended for Category 3 status.

The club has achieved Category 3 status after the completion of the Elite Player Performance Plan inspection process.

Newly appointment Academy chairman Andy Rossiter is pleased to announce that the club have appointed Geoff Harrop as the academy manager.

Geoff has joined Yeovil Town following his departure from Torquay United where he was responsible for restarting the youth department in 2010.

Geoff has previously had successful spells with Colchester United, Rushden & Diamonds and Northampton Town.

Geoff said: “I am delighted that we have achieved Category 3 status after all the hard work that has been put in behind the scenes over the past couple of months prior to my appointment.

“We now have players ranging from under 9’s to under 18’s signed up to the academy for the new season and we have members of qualified staff ready to get going.

“We all want to see young players in our first team who are developed through the academy and here at Yeovil Town they will be given every opportunity to impress.

“The board and manager Paul Sturrock have demonstrated their ambition and drive to develop young players and now the real hard work begins.”

John Evans, Principal of Yeovil College said “Yeovil College is proud to be working in partnership with Yeovil Town Football Club again to deliver the educational studies for the new academy footballers.

"The programme is an excellent opportunity to develop the football stars of the future and to give a clear educational pathway for local and regional academy apprentices.

"The apprentices will be studying at the college for a day and a half working towards their Level 3 BTEC qualification.”
