Yeovil Town’s final game of the season back in the Vanarama National League ended in a 2–1 defeat to Aldershot Town, as the Glovers were unable to find a late equaliser despite some promising chances.

The opening 15 minutes saw both sides settle into the match with little goalmouth action. Yeovil created the first clear opportunity in the 17th minute. Lewys Twamley advanced down the right-hand side and squared the ball to Sonny Blu Lo-Everton in the penalty area, who skilfully returned the ball for Twamley to run onto. However, his effort went just wide of the post, leaving the score level.

Just two minutes later, following some poor defending from Aldershot, Harry Kite delivered a similar ball down the right, this time finding Ciaran McGuckin. His shot mirrored Twamley’s earlier effort—narrowly missing the target.

Aldershot endured a difficult five-minute spell at the back, and Yeovil almost capitalised. A well-weighted through ball allowed McGuckin to beat the onrushing goalkeeper, but with the goal at his mercy, he could only find the side netting.

In the 21st minute, Aldershot responded with a chance of their own. Jack Barham won the ball high up the pitch and noticed Aidan Stone off his line. Barham attempted an ambitious effort, but Stone managed to recover just in time to prevent the ball from rolling into the net.

The home side eventually broke the deadlock five minutes before half-time. Barham once again found himself in space in the attacking third, cutting in from the left before unleashing a shot. Stone got a hand to it, but the ball deflected upwards and looped into the net, giving Aldershot a 1–0 lead at the break.

Aldershot doubled their advantage within five minutes of the restart. A low ball across the face of goal from Tetek picked out Tyler Frost at the back post, who made no mistake with the finish.

Yeovil ramped up the pressure in the final half hour, and their persistence paid off. A cross into the box found Dom Bernard at the far post, and he nodded the ball past the Aldershot keeper to pull one back for the visitors.

The Glovers continued to push for an equaliser, and nearly found it in the dying moments. Brett McGavin’s free-kick from just outside the 18-yard box was curling towards the top-right corner, but the Aldershot goalkeeper made a fine save to preserve the lead. The final whistle followed shortly after, confirming a 2–1 win for the hosts.
