The Glovers made the long trip North to Wigan and returned with a point after a manic second half which saw five goals in eight minutes.
Marek Stech kept the scores level thanks to a fine first half penalty.
The game sprung to life in the 80th minute when Town pulled a goal back and then took the lead thanks to two goals from Ishmael Miller. Only for McArthur to level the scores. Byron Webster the headed into his own net before a last minute Luke Ayling goal secured the draw.
Town made two changes to the starting eleven that lost 3-0 to QPR at the weekend. With Duane Holmes returning to Huddersfield after his loan spell ended Joel Grant was recalled in his place on the right wing.
Joe Ralls returned from his suspension to start on the left wing in the place of James Hayter. Tom Lawrence moved from the left wing position to a more central role behind Ishmael Miller up front.
The game sprung into life when in the 24th minute the home side were awarded a penalty when Lanzoni was adjudged to have fouled Powell from a corner. Jordi Gomes casually stepped up and saw his penalty wonderfully saved by Stech.
With five minutes of the first period remaining manager Gary Johnson made his first substitution with Joel Grant being replaced by Kevin Dawson.
The hosts started the second half brightly with Jean Beausejour finding space just outside the Town area, but the left back’s shot went comfortably wide of the upright.
Just before the hour mark the Latics took the lead. A cross from the right was scuffed towards goal and with the whole goal to aim at Powell nodded the ball into the net from close range.
Town made their second sub with 20 minutes remaining with Kieffer Moore coming on for Lanzoni. Luke Ayling reverted to right back and Moore partnered Miller up front.
Four minutes later Yeovil had that man Stech to thank again when he pulled off another fine save. This time the big shot stopper got down well to his left to deny Fortune a certain goal.
With just under ten minutes remaining the Glovers pulled a goal back when Miller latched onto a ball over the top to calmly cut back onto his left foot and slot home past Al Habsi.
Just minutes later Miller made it 2-0 with a superb finish with his left foot. The Front man controlled the ball on the edge of the area to curl the ball into the far corner.
The home side then equalised when McArthur slotted home from just inside the area to make the scores level.
With less than two minutes remaining the home side regained the lead when Webster headed a cross from the left past Stech into his own net.
With five minutes signalled Town went for the equaliser and forced a corner. Stech sprinted forward and as the corner came across Ayling prodded the ball home.
