Town made the 522 mile round trip to face Accrington Stanley in the second round of the FA Cup and will have to replay the tie after a 1-1 draw.

Manager Gary Johnson made four changes from last weekend’s game against Preston North End.

Ben Nugent, Ajay Leitch-Smith, James Hayter and Jed Steer all started in place of Artur Krysiak, Ben Eaves, Liam Davis and the suspended Ryan Inniss.

Yeovil opened the scoring after 30 minutes when Jordan Clarke swept home a Sam Foley free kick.

Stanley equalised midway through the second half when defender Tom Aldred scored from inside the area.

The home side started the brighter of the two teams with Town having to defend their area well in the first ten minutes.

Town should have found themselves a goal down after 12 minutes when Stanley striker Crooks latched onto McCartan’s flick to race clear of the Yeovil back line. The tall striker only had Steer to beat, but somehow put his effort wide of the target.

The Glovers first chance fell to the returning Leith-Smith. The former Crewe man was found well by Foley, but his shot was deflected wide of the target.

A little against the run of play Town took the lead. A surging run on the left wing by Edwards was cut short when Procter fouled him.

Foley swung the free kick in with his left foot to find Clarke, who made no mistake in sweeping home to score his third goal since joining the club on loan from Coventry City.

With just under five minutes of the second half the home side had two great chances to open their account but Town had both Arthurworrey and Steer to thank for keeping the lead intact.

Ten minutes into the second half the home side felt they should have had a penalty when it appeared Nugent fouled an Accrington player in the box. Referee Stockbridge waved the claims away and signalled a corner.

The home side deservedly drew level just after the hour mark when a neat pass in the Town area was met by defender Aldred, whose finish was more like a seasoned striker than a big centre back.

With 84 minutes in the clock Town had a huge let off when Stanley’s McCartan headed against the post when he had the goal at his mercy.

In the dying minutes Arthurworrey was denied by a good save from Rose in the Stanley goal.
