Yeovil Town’s run of four home fixtures in 11 days continues on Saturday as Notts County visit Huish Park.

Following a goalless draw on Tuesday night against Maidenhead United, the Glovers will be aiming to entertain the Huish Park crowd a little more against Notts County.

The visitors have suffered three defeats in their last three games, but still sit tenth in a tight National League table.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, Sarll said; “We’ve played less games than anybody. We enjoy playing anyone, no matter whether that’s home or away.

“Our experiences this season, mainly due to the Stockport win have been better than those at home so far.

“We were so good at Stockport that it may have judged expectations higher than it maybe needed to be, but that being said, the attitude of the team all of the games, apart from the first half against Chesterfield, has been good.”

Team news

After his one match suspension following his sending off against Boreham Wood, Adi Yussuf will be available for selection on Saturday afternoon.

Exeter City loanee Ben Seymour got his first taste of action on Tuesday evening, and will be looking for more minutes in green & white against Notts County.

Sarll confirmed in his press conference that Reuben Reid and Mark Little are still expected to return in December, whilst Morgan Williams is the closest of the defensive contingent to return after an injury against Bridgwater United.

Club captain Luke Wilkinson remains unavailable, but could return before the end of the month according to Sarll.

A foot in the opposition camp

Founded in 1862, Notts County are the oldest professional association football club in the world (although this is something recently contended by Crystal Palace) and predate the Football Association itself.

The man in the dugout for Notts County is Ian Burchnall. Never a professional, Burchnall studied at the University of Leeds, later taking a role within the Leeds United academy. This is where Burchnall met Graham Potter, this would lead to his break in management as Burchnall replaced Potter as Ostursunds manager whilst Potter ventured to Wales to become Swansea City manager. After two years at the helm with OFK, Burchnall joined Notts County.

When the teams are announced, the name to look out for within the County squad is Reuben Rodrigues, the Portuguese winger has adapted well to life in English football. Winning the league’s Player of the Month award for May 2021.

Have we met before?

Notts County were a regular opponent for Yeovil Town in the Football League, with the sides dropping into the National League in the same season.

Since then, the two sides have a fairly even record in the National League against each other, with one win a piece and a draw at Huish Park last season.

Yeovil’s victory came in Darren Sarll’s first season as manager, with Town running out the 3-1 winners a Huish Park.
