Town had a goal ruled out in the first minute of the match at the Abbey Stadium, before goals from Uche Ikpeazu and George Maris put the U’s in a commanding position at the break.

Bevis Mugabi reduced the deficit with a header on the hour but despite a valiant display, the Glovers couldn’t find a deserved equaliser.

“When I look at the game overall, I was pleased that the team kept fighting and had really good chances,” Way told iFollow Glovers.

“I couldn’t have had many more forwards on at the end; I had Otis, Fela, Sam Surridge and Santos so we had a really attacking team.

“Every member of staff we had on the sideline was trying to push our players forward, trying to get them into the box.

“When you put balls into the box you can see we’re a real threat and we were unfortunate not to come away with at least a point.”

He added: “Having said that, the goals we conceded were too easy and we were very disappointed with the manner we defended.

“We are disappointed, as always when we don’t win, and we’re more disappointed the supporters made a huge commitment, travelled all that way to come and see Yeovil get all three points but unfortunately we didn’t and we have to make sure we march on now to Saturday.

“It’s frustrating but we’ve got to make sure we go again. I’ve got to make sure this group keep fighting and keep believing in themselves.”
