INTERVIEW | Way very pleased with important win

After last weekend’s defeat to Newport County, the squad trained every day to prepare for the visit of the Railwaymen and it paid dividends courtesy of an excellent volley from Rhys Browne and Olufela Olomola’s sixth goal of the Sky Bet League Two campaign.

It was the Glovers third home win of the season and Way was delighted with his players’ application.

“Two-nil and a clean sheet – I don’t think you can ask for more,” he told iFollow Glovers.

“I’m very pleased with all the hard work and effort that’s gone in this week.

“I said to the players this has been one of my best weeks as manager. I’ve had to make a lot of decisions, I’ve had to deal with a lot in the media and there’s been a lot of noise around the place.

“I’ve made sure I’ve stood strong and kept the players stimulated and hungry.”

He added: “There’s been a little bit of inconsistency and we know there’s loads of room for improvement.

“I said I wanted us to stay ahead in the game, make sure we tried to play good football in their half and I thought we did that in the second half.

“It was important we got the win as we’ve had one or two draws that should have been wins but I thought the way the lads dictated the game against a direct Crewe team was good.”

Town’s next match is away to Cambridge United on Tuesday. For ticket details, head to the Away Tickets section.
