Town look a threat going forward and scored three goals for the second consecutive game at Forest Green Rovers, courtesy of first-half strikes from Olufela Olomola, Otis Khan and Francois Zoko.
However, the Glovers let slip a 3-1 lead slip against the EFL newcomers and suffered their second defeat of the campaign.
Yeovil have netted eight goals in three league games but have conceded 14 in the same period, an issue Way is eager to tackle quickly.
He told iFollow Glovers: “We’ve got a problem we’ve got to address and as the manager of this football club I will make sure I do that as soon as possible.
“it’s quite clear we need to make reinforcements – I’ve asked for reinforcements. We have to do our best shore that backline up.
“A lot of us (League Two managers) are looking at the same players and unfortunately we may have to spend a little bit of money to bring a top one in.
“If we do that, we’ve got a real chance of being successful with the attackers we’ve got because we’re scoring goals.
“It has to be right financially. In the market we’re dealing with, some players who are under contract are costing too much for what we can afford.
“There’s one or two I want who are possibly going to cost a little bit of money but we need support in that area and I have to make sure we get it ASAP.”
On his current crop, Way added: “Some of our attacking play has been very, very good in the games we have played. Some of the individual errors we made (at FGR) were very frustrating.
“We’re very, very disappointed for the supporters who travelled having been 3-1 up.
“Someone needs to come out the pack, show leadership skills, aggression and look like they enjoy defending.”
Town are back in action at Huish Park against Coventry City on Saturday, August 26th (3pm).
