MATCH PREVIEW | Boreham Wood – Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town travel to Hertfordshire on Tuesday evening (7:45pm) to face Boreham Wood for the first time this season.

After a victory on Saturday afternoon against Altrincham, Darren Sarll will be hoping for more of the same at Meadow Park.

Luke Garrard’s Boreham Wood have endured a mixed start to the season, but with play-off ambitions, the hosts will be looking to kick on as we approach the half-way point this season.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

Speaking after Saturday’s victory over Altrincham, reflecting on the game, the boss said: “What I really liked is the way, Max Hunt and Carl Dickinson combined in the second half to relieve pressure, rather than just scarring it up the pitch.

“It looked a little bit more like what we’ve been rehearsing, Billy (Sass-Davies), is still a little unknown to us, he’s a quiet ladybug he has been faultless in two games as a defender.

“Both the centre backs were excellent, good in both boxes. We should praise our young ones, especially when they’re good. We need to build them, give them confidence which will give them belief that’s they can go and do it when they want to.”

Team news

Lee Collins will serve the final game of his three match suspension on Tuesday evening.

Long term absentees including the likes of Lawson D’Ath, Luke Wilkinson and Josh Staunton remain unavailable.

Midfield options will be boosted by the return of Matt Worthington who served a one-match ban on Saturday after accumulating five yellow cards in the National League this season.

A foot in the opposition camp

Garrard’s Boreham Wood have built a reputation as a tricky National League side, beating League Two Southend in the FA Cup earlier this season.

Tuesday’s hosts have provided to be stern opposition for Yeovil in recent times,  drawing and losing to the Wood in last season’s league games.

At Huish Park, former Glover Kabongo Tshimanga snatched a last gasp equaliser for Luke Garrard’s side.

For the away fixture, Tshimanga was involved in the scoring again, as his second half strike edged a tight game in Hertfordshire.
