Bassett, who scored in the first qualifying round a fortnight ago, started for Mark Jermyn’s side whilst Lea began the afternoon on the bench.
The hosts dominated much of the first half with Bassett central to much of the Magpies good work; the Glovers academy graduate created a good crossing opportunity for Franklyn Clarke, before a cross of his own found Nathan Walker in the middle who was only denied by a point-blank save.
Despite an encouraging start to the game Dorchester conceded two goals either side of half-time to seemingly put the game beyond them.
Searching for a way back into the match Bassett was replaced by Lea with 78 minutes on the clock, but with the Dorset outfit pushing forward the visitors added a third in second half stoppage time to end Dorchester’s FA Trophy campaign.
