Midfielder Tom Knowles was thrilled to return to winning ways after Yeovil Town secured a well-earned 3-1 victory over Kings Lynn Town at Huish Park.

A brace from Tom Knowles before half time, alongside a late strike from Emmanuel Sonupe rounded off an impressive victory in the National League for Darren Sarll’s side.

After a disappointing display against Aldershot Town last time outstretching their run to three defeats in threethe green and whites showed great spirit and character to bounce back and Knowles was full of praise for Town’s performance on Saturday afternoon.

“It’s always good to get the goal, but the three points is the most important thing, “he told BBC Somerset post-match. “It’s why we play the game, to win games of football.

“The first goal I think Reubs [Reuban Reid] and Josh [Josh Neufville] set real good press and I was right behind them, and luckily they found me instead of the defender. As for the second goal, it’s something that I like to do, get on the half-turn and shoot from further out and score good goals.

It’s been a tough spell for us recently and things like this happen in football unfortunately. It’s all about how you bounce back from that and go on to the next one, and we’ve been fortunate to have had a lot of games to do that.

“It hasn’t gone our way the last couple of games, but we’ve been working hard and luckily everything’s paid off today.

Yeovil have a huge boost ahead of Tuesday’s game as it marks the return of home supporters and Knowles is excited of the prospect and thinks they will have an immediate impact on him and his side’s motivation.

“I’m absolutely buzzingI’ve heard really good things from lads, so I can’t wait to get out there.

“This [Huish Park] has been our fortress this season, so to have them back will be like having another man on the pitch.

Hopefully, they’ll get behind us once again and we can reward them with another victory.

Everything that we do for the club is for the fans. They pay their hard-earned money to watch us week-in-week out and that’s what we get paid to do – put in performances like that and get the three points which is the most important thing for the fans and the football club.

“If we can get a win in front of the fans on Tuesday, it would be something really special.”
