The 20-year-old, who featured once for boyhood club Cardiff City in the Premier League in May 2014, came on as a second-half substitute for Shayon Harrison with Town a man lighter and two goals down.

Deployed on the left side of a back three, James almost made an immediate impact off the bench.

With Carlisle centre-back Michael Raynes on the deck, the young defender played to the whistle, kept the ball in play, and put a delightful cross into the box towards Brandon Goodship who was unlucky to see his header go just over.

James was also in the right place at the right time to clear Jamie Devitt’s shot off the line in the latter stages of the match.

The Welshman’s only other appearance for the Glovers came in the Checkatrade Trophy quarter-final loss at Luton Town.
