INTERVIEW | Darren Sarll reflects on Stockport defeat

Yeovil Town manager Darren Sarll said his side must take the positives from their defeat to Stockport County on Saturday evening.

The Glovers fine run of form came to end at Edgeley Park after Alex Reid’s first half strike was enough to see Simon Rusk clinch his first home victory in charge of Stockport, in front of BT Sport TV cameras.

Despite a much-improved second-half performance, the green and whites failed to find their cutting edge in the final third.

Speaking to www.ytfc.net  post-match, he said: “I thought we started very slow today and were very physically dominated in the first-half.

I think we looked like a young team playing against well-established group of players, and the goal was another mistake from us which has been a main contributing factor all season.

The game in my eyes was a very competitive one and one that deserved a much classier goal given the approach from both teams.”

He continued: “I thought in the second-half we much better physically. I thought we dominated large proportions of territory and it was a shame that we couldn’t find that bit of quality in front of goal.

On a positive note, I thought the players attitude was spot on throughout the game and I thought they tried their hardest to get the win which was a pleasing thing to see.”

A trip to in-form Eastleigh is up next on the horizon for Yeovil Town and Sarll is eager to see a positive reaction from his side.

I think Tuesday is a great game for us to put things right, he added.

I had no quarm or doubt about the players attitude and enthusiasm today, but i felt we lacked that bit of composure and experience especially in the first-half.

We’ve just got to move on from this now and ensure that we are well prepared for another tough test on Tuesday.
