10th September 2014
Hello again! The international break has taken place this week but unlike last year we still got to see our Glovers in action.
A fantastic performance at early pace setters Bradford City saw us bounce back from the JPT defeat in style, with a 3-1 victory courtesy of Aaron Martin and AJ Leitch-Smith. I am sure you will all agree with me when I say I am so pleased for these two who have both worked tirelessly hard during the early part of the season and more than deserve to receive the plaudits after a truly brilliant win.
A huge congratulations must also go to our skipper and Shez’s fave Glover – Joe Edwards. He captained the side at Bradford and in turn made his 100th appearance for the club. In his time at Huish Park he has grown from a boy to a man on the pitch and is relishing his role in central midfield. Well done Joe!
As well as an impressive Yeovil performance, we were also treated to a great England performance on Monday, with Arsenal new boy Danny Welbeck popping up to give the 3 lions a 2–0 win over Switzerland.
What a great start to Euro 2016 qualifying and I was also very impressed with Gary Cahill and Joe Hart who I think we can thank as well for the hard fought victory.
I know there were some Glovers out in Switzerland representing the Green and Whites so I hope they enjoyed their trip and sang their hearts out.
Next week the Premier League and Championship return and here are my stand out fixtures I think you should look out for in the top four divisions:
Premier League – Arsenal v Man City
Danny Welbeck will be looking to get his Arsenal career off to a flying start, following his impressive performance for England, against a Man City side that will want to get their campaign back on track following a rare home defeat to Stoke City. Expect a tight game that neither side will want to lose.
Championship – Cardiff v Norwich
Two of the teams relegated from the Premier League who will be looking to make a statement to the rest of the teams in the Championship. Norwich have made the better start but just 2 points separates the two. Even this early on in the season, a clash of the two favourites to make a return to the Promise Land could be crucial! Expect one moment of quality to separate the two.
League One – Bristol City v Doncaster
City have made a dream start to the season sitting pretty in second place. However, Doncaster have a truly remarkable away record this season having won 4 out of 5. Expect a shock or two as Donny look to gain some consistency this season. The Robins will need to be at their best to record another win.
League Two – Morecambe v Plymouth
Just three points separate these two teams, with both looking to gain promotion to League One this season. Having just won away at Luton, Plymouth will be full of confidence as Morecambe look to consolidate their place in the top 3. Expect an exciting game with former YTFC man Reuben Reid the one to watch for Argyle.
Goal of the week
It may be predictable, but there was really only one choice this week and that is our very own Ajay Leitch – Smith. New loan signing Jack Price played in a superb ball for AJ and he made no mistake in firing home, I don’t know about you but I could watch it again and again! Here’s to many more.

Next up, we face a tough trip to the Ricoh Arena. I for one am so glad we will be visiting the clubs proper home and that the Coventry City fans have finally got their stadium back. We must make sure we spoil part two of their party and bring back the three points.
The lads will be full of confidence after the win at Valley Parade and I am sure we will all make as much noise as possible to spur the lads on to a 5th game unbeaten in the league. Have a good week everyone!
