The 22-year-old has been out since November with an ankle injury and was back on the training pitches last week.
Midfielder Oscar Gobern, who suffered a hamstring injury against Lincoln City last month, is just behind Browne in his recovery.
Glovers boss Darren Way said: “Rhys Browne is close so fingers crossed if it isn’t fit for Saturday, he’ll be fit for Manchester United which is a bonus because he’s a very, very good player.
“Oscar is perhaps a week behind him and I want to give him all the time he needs; that’s important because the hamstring tear he had needs looking after.”
