Founded in 1897 and currently under the stewardship of player-manager Adam Murray, the Stags play in a predominantly yellow strip with a blue trim.
The Yellows play their home games at Field Mill, which boasts a capacity of just over 8,000 people.
Further challenges emerged off the field in December 2010 as the club were locked out of their ground following disagreements over rent with the stadium proprietor Keith Haslam.
Following negotiations, the matter was resolved and Chairman John Radford later purchased the ground from Haslam in 2012.
The last player to feature for both clubs was central midfielder Fergus Bell. He made 16 appearances and scored a solitary goal for the Stags before moving south to Huish Park. He was a largely peripheral figure for the Glovers though, playing only two games before being released at the end of last season.
Distance from Huish Park: 215 miles (around three hours, 45 minutes).
2014-15 season final position: 21st in League Two.
Odds on to finish: Win outright 50/1, promotion 12/1, relegation 11/2 (all odds sought from SkyBet).
Super stat: Mansfield Town were nearly re-named Harchester United in 2008, the name a fictional Premier League team featured on Sky TV, after a bidder for the club expressed his interest to rebrand the Nottinghamshire outfit to make them more marketable. There was heavy opposition from supporters though and the takeover was ultimately unsuccessful.
