5th March 2015

Hey everyone.

It is now a busy time for all football teams and we have played twice since I last blogged. Once again it has been a rollercoaster with both games having so much drama. I would like to firstly wish Artur Krysiak and Stephen Kingsley a speedy recovery as they both suffered nasty injuries against Scunthorpe and Walsall respectively.

The point up at Scunthorpe in isolation is a good result, especially as Gareth Stewart saved a penalty from a certain Paddy Madden. However, I think we needed the win due to our situation being so desperate. It is disappointing that we went down 1-0 at home on Tuesday, even though Scott Loach had a man of the match debut between the sticks. He also saved a penalty but Adam Morgan’s miss from the spot will also go down as a key moment of the season. He did save us against Gillingham and unfortunately these things happen in football.

We now lie six points from safety and it looks like a mountain to climb. It is not impossible by any stretch but a win against Oldham on Saturday is a must if we are to have a chance of defying the odds. However, if any club can, Yeovil Town Football Club can.

In other news, the Premier League provided some great games last night. All of the top five won, with Arsenal and Liverpool looking the most impressive in terms of form. Liverpool saw off Burnley at Anfield, whilst Arsenal travelled to Loftus Road claiming all three points. The Gunners saw off strugglers QPR 2-1 with Alexis Sanchez shining once again. He sealed the win after 69 minutes claiming his first goal in seven games. In my opinion, he has been the player of the season due to his unselfishness and creativity. Every time he gets the ball something magic seems to happen. He is one of the main reasons the Gunners will almost certainly secure a Champions League place once again.

Liverpool have also been impressive in the Premier League lately and are now unbeaten in 12 games, having won five of their last seven. They now lay just two points off the top 4 and after an inconsistent start now look dangerous. I think Brendan Rodgers has done a fantastic job and rode out the sticky patch well in which the Reds looked disappointing. On the other side of Merseyside, all is not so going to plan.

I think Everton have been extremely disappointing this year and look a shadow of the sides we have seen over the last few years. Last night, they went down 2-0 at Stoke and lie in 14th place, just six points clear of the relegation zone.

I think they will be fine, but Roberto Martinez will be disappointed with their lack of goals and how they now look easy to beat. He is a fine manager and will be looking to invest over the summer. They should be pushing for a top seven spot, particularly with their recent record in the top flight. Along with Southampton, they are one of the teams a lot of football fans hope do well so I do hope they turn it around and finish the season strongly.

Goal of the week

This strike from Jordan Henderson is worthy of any 3 points and this was just the opening goal of their 2 – 1 win. He has been a revelation the last two seasons and has proved a lot of people wrong. This is my favourite finish from a great mid-week Match of the Day.

So, it may seem all doom and gloom at Huish Park but let’s try not to get too down! Whatever will be will be and we now have nothing to lose.

The boys, Skivo and Darren will not give up so we can’t either! Getting behind the lads can only be a good thing….oh and Joe MUST be back from injury soon! Keep smiling and see you ALL at the game on Saturday, our support can make all the difference.

Until next week.
