The Glovers restricted the Valiants to little in front of goal and had the majority of the attacking play, going ahead early on through Ivorian Zoko’s low drive.
Somehow a second wouldn’t go in for Darren Way’s side who were harshly pegged back from a late Tom Pope penalty – the fourth game the two teams have drawn with each other after 90 minutes this season.
Despite the last-gasp spot-kick, captain Zoko was happy with the team’s performance and wants Yeovil to continue where they left off at home next Saturday.
“It was a good performance from everyone,” he told iFollow Glovers.
“There’s a little bit of frustration (in drawing) as we played very well.
“We were strong and defended very well as a team. The referee gave that call but this is football.
“We showed against a strong team we can create chances to score. They’re a very physical side but we managed it well.
“We want to progress every game and we’re working hard in training. If we keep defending like we did, then it’s very positive for the future.”
Zoko’s goal to open the scoring was the veteran forward’s 10th goal of the campaign in all competitions.
It was also his 31st for the club and he says he can do better.
“I just closed my eyes and shot!” the 34-year-old joked.
“I was focused, I saw his position and he was very tight to the post so I tried to focus on the far post, get a good contact on the ball and this is what happened.
“I’m pleased but I say it every time, I can do better. I’ll take it and move on to the next day and try and do my best. It’s not bad, but I can always do better.”
