The Glovers ran out comfortable 4-2 victors in the reverse fixture and despite the obvious links between Town and Johnson, Way’s thoughts are solely on the match.
“When we played them last time, people wanted to ask questions as far as the relationship (between me and Johnson) was concerned,” Way told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.
“I have to say, and he’ll be exactly the same, we’re focusing on preparation for our own teams.
“When they cross that white line it’s out of your control so he’ll be doing everything he can, we’ve done everything we can and are in good spirits.”
With the Glovers drawing seven of their last 10 games and determined to turn draws into wins, Way has spent time on the training ground making the necessary improvements.
He said: “The players are very hungry, honest and give everything they can possibly give.
“Apart from one or two key tactical decisions we’ve got to make and some small improvements, all work and preparation is focused on going into the game.
“We have to focus on the performance, with the players physically and mentally fit to compete for three points.”
Having travelled over 900 miles in the last two league away games, Town’s boss is hopeful the relatively short trip to the LCI Rail Stadium will entice a noisy travelling contingent.
“The support this year has been phenomenal,” said Way.
“The amount of miles these supporters are travelling week-in, week-out takes unbelievable commitment.
“I’m sure – because I’ve played at Cheltenham as a player – the fans will make some noise on the day. Hopefully more noise than Cheltenham!”
The Green and Whites travel to take on Gary Johnson’s Cheltenham Town this Saturday, with tickets available via the Huish Park ticket office either in person or by calling 01935 847888. Purchases can also be made online.
