Darren Sarll was left delighted after his side secured a place in the Second Round of the Emirates FA Cup after an away victory against Bromley at Hayes Lane.

The magic of the cup returned for the Glovers as Gabby Rogers netted his first professional goal with a last gasp strike during extra-time, securing the win over the South East London side.

In what was a dominant performance for Yeovil, latest recruit Alex Bradley made his debut at right-back following his loan move from Lincoln City in the week, whilst Morgan Williams made his second consecutive start.

“I thought we played really well today, the only thing I was disappointed with was the performance during extra-time,” Sarll told BBC Somerset post-match.

“I think in games like these I’ve always been a firm believer that big moments decide big games and I think Morgan Williams’ block was as important as Gabby’s goal as they were the deciding factors for us today.

“What I was pleased about was that the players looked fit, were very organised, and for the normal duration of the game played some great football which was a big positive.

“I think all good runs and teams always start with gritty wins to begin with and hopefully today is the start of that for us. I had a lot more belief in the boys today as we looked a lot more like the normal Yeovil that we were all used too. The players worked really hard this week in training and thoroughly deserved nothing but a win today.

“As a team we’re always going to make mistakes because that’s the nature of football, but I thought we looked a lot of more like ourselves which was good to see.”

He finished: We’ve now got to try and push that standard through in order to make some sort of mark in the league. We know where we are, but I was extremely impressed with how brave and brilliant the lads were in terms of their self-confidence, people taking the right touches, making the right movement and for a team who has only won one game this season which was in this competition.”
