Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust would like to clarify that despite Yeovil Town Football Club’s recent withdrawal from the Football League’s Youth Development Scheme; the Trust continues to provide high quality football provision for youngsters within the local area.
Trust coaches continue to maintain a regular presence in schools as well as working with disadvantaged and socially excluded groups using community-based football coaching sessions.
Through recognition of delivering quality football related programmes to young people the reputation of the Trust has also helped develop links in areas such as education social inclusion, language and health.
The Trust also continues to provide their Development Centre programmes which have been running for the last 5 years in order to improve the technical ability of promising young local players whilst giving them an opportunity to play and train at a higher level.
Players who are progressing within the Trust’s Development Centre programmes are recommended to trial with their Advanced Development Centre which has been operating since September 2012, so that all the players attending the centres have a goal to work towards.
Due to the Clubs comprehensible decisions for withdrawing from the Football League’s Youth Development Scheme; the Trust would like to make clear that they are also looking to provide footballing opportunities for youngsters aged 16-18 within the local area.
Joint manager of Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, Sara Bradley said: “Last year the Trust set up an Advanced Development Centre which enabled children from the previous Centre of Excellence setup as well as children from our existing Development Centres the opportunity to continue to receive high quality football training whilst also representing their local professional club.
“By maintaining these centres, we are not only providing these children with value for money  professional football coaching, we are also teaching them the necessary life skills that are required in society today as well as making them feel part of the Club.
“We are currently looking at ways to provide footballing opportunities for 16-18 year olds; however we need to make sure that we not only have the correct procedures and resources in place, but also make sure that whatever we decide to do is sustainable before we make any decisions.
“However we will continue to work hard in order to achieve our objectives and continue to provide opportunities for children within Yeovil and the surrounding areas."
