The versatile 21-year-old can play on the wing or as a striker and becomes the club’s first summer signing, penning a two-year contract at Huish Park.

He is the second generation of Browne to play for the Glovers, with father Steve becoming a Yeovil legend in the 90s, playing close to 100 games in the green and white.

Rhys was part of the Norwich City Under-18s side that won the 2012/13 FA Youth Cup before moving on to Charlton Athletic a year later.

Browne’s development at the London club led to international recognition. He made his debut for Antigua and Barbuda in 2015 against St Lucia in a World Cup first leg qualifier before earning his second cap in a second leg win.

The tricky wide man signed for Aldershot Town that summer and scored six goals in 37 appearances for the Shots.

It led to Grimsby purchasing his signature with the Mariners then loaning him out to Vanarama National League side Macclesfield Town for the second half of the 2016/17 campaign, where he impressed with a number of stunning strikes.

He has now opted to follow in his dad’s footsteps by joining Town and has signed until 2019.

“Rhys is technically a very, very gifted player and someone I’ve been aware of for the last two years,” boss Darren Way told YTFC.net.

“He likes to get the ball to feet, be positive in one-on-one situations and he’s got a good end product in the final third. Like Otis Khan, he’s a very entertaining player.

“His performances have been impressive and I thought he played very well in the FA Trophy final at the end of May in which he scored, so I’m very excited to secure his services and start our summer activity.”
