The 20-year-old made 19 appearances for Town after arriving from the Premier League outfit, becoming an integral part of manager Darren Way’s side.

Hoping to retain Worthington’s services, the club were unable to agree on a loan extension as the midfielder returns for first team duties at the Vitality Stadium.

Thanking Cherries manager Eddie Howe, Town boss Way paid thanks to both Worthington and Bournemouth.

“I have to thank Matt for his efforts during his time with us, he’s been a real asset to our squad. Equally, I must thank Eddie for allowing us to enjoy the next chapter of Matt’s development.

“Following in the footsteps of fellow Bournemouth loanee Matt Butcher who spent last season with us, Worthy will now return to the south coast with games under his belt and a chance of first team football at his parent club.

“The five loans we’ve had in the first six months of the campaign have picked up 99 appearances between them – we’re proud to play such a big part in their footballing development and are grateful to those who entrust us with their promising players.”

All at Yeovil Town Football Club wish Matt all the best in the future and thank him for his efforts during his spell at Huish Park.
